Observances & Celebrations
Consider observing or celebrating one of these days in your group or congregation:

Thankoffering Sunday
Celebrated in November, each congregation or unit chooses a Sunday to share the ministry of the Women of the ELCA and encourage support of the organization. A copy of the 2024 Thankoffering Service will be available on the Women of the ELCA website: https://www.womenoftheelca.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/2024-Thankoffering-Service-FinalRlink.pdf

Bold Women's Day
Bold Women's Day - observed the first Sunday of March - celebrates all Lutheran women who have acted or are acting boldly on their faith in Jesus Christ. Some women are bold in their unceasing prayers. Other women are bold in their service to those in need, and in their advocacy or their hospitality. It's all about living out our baptismal call, about being a disciple of Christ. Are you bold? A litany, a liturgy, a skit, and publicity materials are available at https://www.womenoftheelca.org/bold-womens-day

Rachel's Day
In 1996, Women of the ELCA passed a memorial, resolving that ELCA women encourage their congregations to recognize the first Sunday in May each year as Rachel's Day, to broaden awareness of the violence children face and actions to address it based on Jeremiah 31:15-17 wherein Rachel grieved for her children. A Litany of Lament and Hope is available on the Women of the ELCA website: https://www.womenoftheelca.org/special-initiatives/rachels-day
